New South Wales: Birdie Beach

This beach is an unofficial nudist beach that can be reached in an only one and a half hours drive from Sydney. On the northern end of the beach you will see naturists enjoying the sun. During the summer hundreds of people use this beach. Access: Travel along the expressway from Sydney and take the Newcastle exit. Follow the Pacific Highway through Doyalson to Lake Munmorah. At Lake Munmorah, take Elizabeth Bay Road at the traffic lights. Drive until you see the entrance to the Munmorah State Recreational Area on the left. Turn into the park and follow the signs to the Birdie Beach car park. Situated in a National Park a fee of $7.50 per vehicle is charged to enter the park. There is a nice camping area just off the beach with cooking facilities, toilet block, but no hot showers. Provisions can be purchased at Lake Munmorah.

New South Wales: Cobblers Beach

The warm weather certainly brought large numbers to Cobblers Beach, during the summer of 1997-1998. On the weekend of 17 / 18 January, 1998 the beach was very crowded with the proportion of male / female visitors estimated to be 60 / 40 percent. Access: Head towards Neutral Bay along Military Road, to Spit Junction. Go through Mosman Junction, then left in Middle Head Road, after Raglan Street. At the end it becomes Chowder Bay Road. Take the first turn right. Park your car about 100 metres further along.
